Festival-goers generated more than 8 Terabytes of traffic on the MEO network on their return to MEO Marés Vivas

This Sunday saw the end of the 16th edition of MEO Marés Vivas, an event in which technology and music went hand in hand, enhancing the best of the biggest festival in the north of the country. For three days, thousands of festival-goers relied on MEO's technology to experience, record and share the best moments of this unmissable event in the context of summer festivals. MEO reinforced the festival's infrastructure with the installation of a 4.5 km fiber optic network, thus guaranteeing Wi-Fi coverage throughout the grounds of the former Madalena Camping Park in Vila Nova de Gaia.

In terms of the mobile network, and despite the quality of MEO's 5G network guaranteeing Wi-Fi access throughout the venue, 4G and 5G networks were reinforced throughout the space. In terms of MEO's contribution to the 16th edition of the festival, more than 8 Terabytes of traffic were generated on the operator's network, through access to mobile internet and Wi-Fi.

To give you an idea of the impact, the volume of data processed through MEO's Wi-Fi network alone would be enough to power a small town's internet browsing for a week.

With more than 7600 unique users connected to the festival's Wi-Fi, the traffic generated could be translated into around 100,000 stories being uploaded simultaneously to social networks or 200,000 whatsapp messages sent per minute. Of particular note here, in terms of the mobile network, is the traffic supported by the 5G network, with 44% of the total traffic recorded at the event.

It is also worth mentioning the more than 34,800 minutes of voice calls made using the MEO network. In this edition of the festival, MEO once again showed its commitment to strengthening its close relationship with music. In a strategy that has always stood out for the way it puts technological innovation at the service of people, providing them with the best of every experience, this year's highlight was Brick by MEO.

Making life easier for music lovers, MEO gave festival-goers the chance to take a powerbank with them via 6 Brick Stations distributed around the site of the former campsite, ensuring that they wouldn't miss any of the shows on offer. Over the three days of MEO Marés Vivas, 381 chargers were requested. The MEO brand was also responsible for ensuring the communications of the organization, sponsors, media partners and the press.

TVI and Rádio Comercial broadcasts were also supported by the MEO service, bringing the best moments from outside the festival grounds to the public. This year's MEO Marés Vivas featured three brands from the Altice universe - MEO, MOCHE and SAPO - represented on some of the most popular stages on the map of the former Madalena Camping Park.

As the festival's technological partner and naming sponsor, MEO has added yet another success to what is already a historic association between the brand and music. This success is the result not only of a strategic commitment to putting the most innovative technology at people's service, but also of the commitment of the MEO teams responsible for setting up and monitoring all the infrastructures.

The MEO Marés Vivas festival returns in 2025 on July 18, 19 and 20.
