Altice Foundation to award 40,000 euros in art prizes

The Altice Foundation has opened the application phase for the Norberto Fernandes Prize, aimed at Portuguese artists or those living in Portugal. The initiative, which aims to promote and boost Contemporary Art by supporting innovative and creative projects, has applications open until March 1, 2024 and the form is available on the Altice Foundation website(https://fundacao.altice.pt/arte/premio-norberto-fernandes).

With prizes totaling 40,000 euros, the Altice Foundation aims to encourage the creation of value in contemporary art by supporting projects in the field of fine arts, in two categories: Art and Technology and Young Artists. In the Art and Technology category, for original proposals that make use of and relate to technology, the prize corresponds to a total value of 30,000 euros, of which 15,000 in cash and another 15,000 in acquisitions of works by the artist. In the Young Artists category, aimed at original projects by candidates up to the age of 35 with a career that is in the process of being recognized, the prize money will be 5,000 euros, with another 5,000 going towards the acquisition of works, making a total of 10,000 euros.

In the first phase, the applications will be analyzed by the Norberto Fernandes Prize Evaluation and Monitoring Committee, which will be responsible for selecting the finalists. The works selected in this first phase will be exhibited in a public space in Lisbon. Subsequently, all the shortlisted projects will be assessed by the Prize Jury, made up of three leading figures from the artistic and academic world, as well as a member of the Altice Foundation. The winners will be announced at a public ceremony at a date and place to be announced shortly.
Technology, Knowledge and Art are the three main areas of activity of the Altice Foundation, a pioneering foundation in the adaptation and adoption of technology, which celebrated two decades in 2023. Providing access to art and making it easy to understand has therefore been one of the pillars of the Altice Foundation since its inception.

With the aim of acting as an agent for promoting and boosting contemporary art and reinforcing its social commitment and corporate citizenship, the Altice Foundation is launching the first edition of the Award, named after the first director of the Portugal Telecom Foundation. Norberto Fernandes stood out for his contribution to the Foundation's growth and for his innovative vision, based on promoting artistic heritage and a sustainable digital and information society.

Multi-media campaign "The art of recognizing talent"
Recognizing talent is an art in itself.
The multi-media campaign, guided by the Foundation's positioning of bringing the future closer to those who need it most, also in the areas of knowledge, technology and art, once again brings people to the center of creativity, with an authentic approach and unfolds through the concept 'The art of recognizing talent'. This is because, rather than publicizing the Norberto Fernandes Prize, the campaign aims to recognize, summon and reward talents in the most varied art forms who, in this way, will be able to see an ever brighter future ahead of them.
The multi-media communication campaign will be broadcast on TV, digital, press and radio. On air from January 22 on digital media - website, social networks and SAPO portal - the campaign will also include a 20" institutional film.
