MEOS program breaks record for donations to social institutions

Since 2005, the telecommunications operator has given its customers the chance to help those who need it most, combining their efforts with those of the MEObrand in causes as pressing to society as health, respect for differences and the fight against socio-economic inequalities.

For Ana Figueiredo, CEO of Altice Portugal, "the growing success that MEO's initiative has shown, year after year, highlights the dedication of those who give their best every day for a fairer society, more tolerant of difference, more concerned about others and community well-being. That MEO customers are the ones to do this fills us with pride, because it says how much they are aligned with us in what have been our priorities and our position of intervention and social responsibility."

There are 10 institutions to which the donations raised in 2023 were distributed: the Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, ACAPO; the Association of Economic Kitchens, ACERSI; the Association of Women Against Violence; AMI, Assistência Médica Internacional; the Association of People with Trisomy 21; the Federation of Portuguese Cerebral Palsy Associations; the Portuguese Federation of Deaf Associations; Lar Marista de Ermesinde; the Portuguese League Against Cancer and Refúgio Aboim Ascensão.

Throughout the year, there were three circumstances that mobilized MEO customers even more urgently. In February alone, in response to the earthquake that shook Turkey and Syria, the institutions, through the telecommunications operator, raised almost 65 thousand euros. MEO customers again responded massively in September to the earthquake in Morocco, donating another 33,000 euros. The 348,921 euros raised in this edition brings to 2.4 million the total amount of donations that the program has made to partner institutions since it was launched.

The figures materialize what has always been MEO's ambition and commitment: to be a company made by people and for people.
