Altice Foundation Art Prize already has finalists

The Altice Foundation announces the 20 finalists for the first edition of the Norberto Fernandes Prize, an initiative that aims to promote and boost Contemporary Art. Of the 250 applications received, 10 finalists were chosen for each of the competition categories - Art and Technology and Young Artists.

The quality and diversity of the projects submitted exceeded expectations, reflecting the richness of the contemporary artistic panorama. The selection of the shortlist was the responsibility of the Evaluation Committee, made up of Adelaide Duarte, art historian, researcher and deputy director of the Institute of Art History of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the NOVA University of Lisbon; Manuel da Costa Cabral, Director of the Fine Arts Service at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between 1994 and 2011; and Pedro Portugal, Co-founder of the artistic movements Homeostética, Ases da Paleta, Etno-Estética, Explicadismo, Pandemos, Zuturismo, Arthomem and KWZero.

The selected projects, which will be exhibited in the Altice Foundation Collection Space, located in the Picoas Forum, on a date to be indicated, will be evaluated by the Prize Jury, made up of reference and recognition elements from the artistic and academic world, accompanied by a member of the Foundation Altice. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at a date and place to be announced.

Aiming to encourage the creation of value in contemporary art, by supporting projects in the area of plastic arts, the award is an initiative of the Altice Foundation and has prizes totaling 40 thousand euros: “Art and Technology” category (30 thousand euros) and “Young Artists” category (10 thousand euros).
