MEO technology transports spectators to Rabo de Peixe scenery

MEO technology transports viewers to the set of 'Rabo de Peixe'

From the 'América' video club, to the Porto Formoso fishing port, to the home of the protagonist, Eduardo Melo, while waiting for the promised second season of 'Rabo de Peixe', the millions of viewers who watched the Netflix series will be able to visit the Azorean town on their cell phones.

MEO Empresas has teamed up with X-Plora and the municipality of Ribeira Grande to create, with the support of this streaming platform, an interactive digital roadmap that will guide users of the app through the settings in which the series was shot.

The 'vizitAR' application will provide access to additional information, through video, audio, images and various contents, in Portuguese and English, when users are at the georeferenced locations.

On this 'Netflix Rabo de Peixe' route, tourists visiting Ribeira Grande, on the island of São Miguel, will also have access to exclusive content from the Portuguese series that has reached seventh place in Netflix's global top chart for series in languages other than English.

"It's a very important launch for us in that it reflects MEO Empresas' strategy in the area of Tourism and consolidates this long-standing alliance between our technology, innovation and the content that matters most to people," said the Chief Sales Officer for Altice Portugal's B2B segment, Nuno Nunes.
"Television has taken Rabo de Peixe across borders. Now, this route gives visitors the chance to experience the story that millions of people have seen on screen," said the head of the business segment.

MEO Empresas' involvement in this initiative continues Altice's commitment todeveloping technologies that seek to meet people in their most memorable moments, such as a vacation to the Azores.

In addition, and following on from what has been MEO Empresas' historic alliance with that Autonomous Region - favoring the improvement of services provided to the population - it is also an objective here to contribute to leveraging the local economy of this fishing village that is Rabo de Peixe.

In the future, this solution will also allow the municipality to create other themed digital itineraries, or expand the content and experiences now available.
The official launch of this interactive itinerary, which was developed on the initiative of the Ribeira Grande municipality, took place this Thursday in the Noble Hall of the town hall.

The VizitAR application can be downloaded for free from the APP Store (Apple) or the Play Store (Android).
