Record attendance makes MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal Europe's biggest beach sporting event

In addition to this new all-time high, Altice Portugal doubled its investment in technological infrastructures, namely fiber optics and Wi-Fi, in order to guarantee the transmission of the event to the whole world. The event recorded more than 5.3 terabytes of traffic generated by fans.

Contributing to the projection of the national sport across borders, Altice Portugal has implemented all the necessary technological infrastructure to support and guarantee:

- National and international broadcasts of the race

- Real-time scoring technology built into athletes' Apple Watches

- Wi-Fi coverage of all the stage locations (beaches, athletes' area, sponsors and media)

- Streaming of the event to the official WSL platforms

Adaptation, resilience and responsiveness are concepts that are intrinsically linked to the MEO brand, which sponsors the biggest events in Portugal - be it surf competitions, festivals or other national events.

As one of the main driving forces behind Portuguese surfing for over 25 years, the 2022 edition is the 13th consecutive year that MEO has given its name to the biggest event in the sport in Portugal. The Portuguese stage will also be marked by the consecration of João Chianca, from Brazil, and Caitlin Simmers, as winners of the world surfing circuit in Portugal, which ended this Tuesday at Supertubos Beach, in Peniche.
