The new, optimized website aims to provide a more appealing and accessible browsing experience, from any place and device, with access to daily updated information on WYD Lisbon 2023.

Online since October 2020, in the last year alone the WYD Lisbon 2023 website has had more than half a million visitors from all over the world, from Portugal to Brazil, Italy and Mexico, among many others. Now available in the five official languages of WYD Lisbon 2023 (Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Italian), the new website reinforces its role and contribution as a communication tool for the meeting.

For Raquel Andrade Neves, Director of Institutional and Corporate Communication at Altice Portugal, "Altice Portugal, through MEO, has been associated with World Youth Day from the very first moment. Through our technology, our networks, our infrastructure and our know-how, we want to offer the best experience to those who attend this event and to those who visit us, at such an important and symbolic moment in the lives of hundreds of thousands of people."

Ana Alves, Director of Communications for WYD Lisbon 2023, stresses the "importance of launching this new website, built in partnership with Altice Portugal, so that young people from all over the world feel invited to WYD Lisbon 2023 and so that everyone can follow the preparations for WYD. Young people particularly value digital media, so it is essential that we provide modern and functional digital solutions."

Between August 1 and 6, 2023, MEO is the technological partner of reference and Founding Telecommunications Partner of WYD Lisbon 2023. The company will be responsible for providing access to the fiber optic network, strengthening mobile coverage, access to the Wi-Fi network and the development of a mobile app. In addition, the contents of the meeting will be available on the SAPO portal and on MEO.

About WYD Lisbon 2023

World Youth Day (WYD), a meeting of young people from all over the world with the Pope, was instituted by St. John Paul II in 1985 and since then has been a moment of encounter and sharing for millions of people around the world.

The first edition took place in 1986 in Rome, and since then WYD has been held in the following cities: Buenos Aires (1987), Santiago de Compostela (1989), Czestochowa (1991), Denver (1993), Manila (1995), Paris (1997), Rome (2000), Toronto (2002), Cologne (2005), Sydney (2008), Madrid (2011), Rio de Janeiro (2013), Krakow (2016) and Panama (2019). On January 27, 2019, at the conclusion of World Youth Day in Panama City, it was announced that Pope Francis' choice for the next edition of WYD would be Lisbon. WYD Lisbon 2023 will take place between August 1 and 6, 2023, under the theme "Mary got up and left in haste" - Lk 1:39.
