MEO Empresas brings greater efficiency and automation to Novadelta


The solution aims to provide the production process with greater efficiency and security, better quality of service and improved results. It takes advantage of the high level of know-how, experience and capacity of MEO Empresas' ecosystem of partners, which includes Nokia, as supplier of the 5G private network solution, Infinite Foundry, responsible for developing the 3D digital twin, and Afinomaq, responsible for supplying the robotic arm.

With a focus on preparing companies to reach their true potential, generate greater value and create a positive impact on the market and the world, MEO Empresas has been investing heavily in innovation on the 5G mobile network. Proof of this are the various examples already implemented in sectors such as health, education, cities, agriculture and industry.

In this demonstration, the 5G private network appears as an enabler and industrial connectivity platform, providing greater reliability, predictability, performance and security to the functions performed. The integrated solution, adapted to the needs and characteristics of the Campo Maior plant, includes 5G as the main actor in the demonstration and three complementary services included in this ecosystem: digital twin 3D, software that virtually replicates, in 3D and in real time, what is happening on the factory floor; an advanced palletizing system that places the coffee boxes on pallets and, through 5G, communicates with the AGV, an autonomous transport vehicle whose mission is to supply the robot with empty pallets and transport the full pallet, without human intervention, to the warehouse, moving safely between its peers.

The network allowed all these elements to be operated and integrated in real time thanks to high-speed connectivity, minimal latency and total control of the quality of service. In this way, Novadelta was able to experience an Industry 4.0 environment, translating into gains in productivity, efficiency, flexibility and sustainability, with greater safety for workers.

This innovative solution, presented for the first time, offers a range of added value and competitive advantages to Industry 4.0, namely: ubiquitous communication with guarantees of quality of service, to support business-critical services; location and monitoring of equipment and raw materials in real time; automation of critical activities, as well as simulation, visualization of the production process and monitoring of performance indicators and alerts in real time.
