Nokia, a multinational telecommunications infrastructure company and European equipment manufacturer, will be responsible for the development of the Core 5G network, including the evolution to a native architecture in the Cloud, where network functions are implemented as micro-services, in a modular services business logic.
The new 5G Stand Alone mobile core will allow Altice Portugal to provide innovative 5G services, such as network slicing, low latency services and IoT services, in a massive way, in the communications of customers in the consumer and business segments. On the other hand, it will also provide higher levels of security, using enhanced encryption algorithms for increased privacy.
The services that will be made available by the new Core 5G will provide guaranteed national coverage, using Altice's public mobile network. This innovative high-performance offer aims to meet the critical communications needs of industries, public bodies, cities and companies, where automation and high asset intensity are critical aspects.
Altice Portugal's 5G currently covers 90% of the population and the largest number of municipalities in the country.
