Web Summit 2022: 50TB of traffic generated by more than 71 thousand visitors

The balance? Very positive. The performance of Altice Portugal's networks was exceptional, with total reliability and security, demonstrating the quality and resilience of the company's infrastructures which, once again, is the event's technology partner.

The history of the 2022 edition of the Web Summit includes the following figures:

  • Traffic consumption on all networks exceeded 50TB;
  • Around 20% of the traffic processed on the mobile network was on 5G technology;
  • +1.6 million unique sessions established on the WiFi network;
  • +46,000 unique devices connected to the WiFi network;
  • +3,000 devices installed and managed by Altice;
  • +5,000 people watched via MEO's TV app, generating around 9,000 entries.

In an action that took more than two months to prepare and involved a team of more than 160 employees, Altice reinforced all its networks - fixed, mobile and WiFi - throughout the Web Summit venue, enabling it to support more than 150,000 devices simultaneously via the wireless network. This edition will also be marked, for the first time, by full 5G coverage of the entire event.

Altice Portugal has been a technology partner and sponsor of the Web Summit since its first edition. Since 2016, more than 336 Terabytes of traffic have been generated, recorded over the course of its six editions (not counting 2020 given the event's online format).

"Where the tech world meets Portugal" was the motto of Ana Figueiredo's keynote on the last day of the event. With a focus on technology and innovation, the CEO of Altice Portugal took to the Central Stage to share the role of the leading telecommunications operator as a partner of the technology summit and how it prepares and installs all the communications infrastructure that ensures connectivity for thousands of visitors from 160 countries.
