Altice Portugal awards Career Prize to Tim, bassist and lead singer of Xutos e Pontapés

Tim, with a career spanning 46 years, is one of the founders of the iconic band Xutos e Pontapés. Over the years he has been recognized as a national figure who stands out for his efforts and excellence in the field of Portuguese music. It was on this basis that Alexandre Fonseca honored him with the "Career Award", the first award given by Altice Portugal in Portugal.

For Alexandre Fonseca, CEO of Altice Portugal, "Tim is an inescapable figure in Portuguese music, not now, not in the past, but always. Tim and Xutos e Pontapés, as well as the other projects in which he has been present, are transversal to a number of generations, they are icons of Portuguese music and Portuguese music is also one of the great pillars of our culture. Tim represents that perseverance, that continuity, he represents a lot of our imagination, of my generation, but also of the younger generations and even the older ones. As such, the creation of this new award and its attribution to Tim could not fail to happen, I believe that Tim, for all the work he has done, deserved this recognition."

According to Tim, lead singer of Xutos e Pontapés, "I'm very proud that this is an important award. I'm also very grateful to all the people who have helped me get this far, not just my bandmates, but all the people I've worked with in music, in communication, on stages, all over this country, where we've been trying to transform, like Altice Portugal, a dark and gray country into something more beautiful and happier. This is a recognition that satisfies me a lot."

The Career Award is given by the CEO of Altice Portugal, Alexandre Fonseca, and aims to distinguish a national figure for their permanent dedication, merit, excellence and contribution to different key areas of civil society.

Aware of the importance of supporting culture, in its various expressions, from music to cinema, art, heritage and sport, Altice Portugal has been supporting projects and initiatives that show its strong connection to the country, the Portuguese language and national patriotic symbols.
